Thomas Muntzer gilt als radikaler Reformator - zu Recht. Er gilt auch als Sozialrevolutionar - zu Recht? Thomas Muntzer wollte die Gesellschaft nicht andern, er wollte seine Zeitgenossen in den Weltuntergang fuhren. Dieser stand unmittelbar bevor - das schloss er aus Aussagen Gottes, der sich ihm, dem endzeitlichen Propheten, in mystischen Offenbarungen mitgeteilt hatte. Hier gab es nur noch die Unterscheidung von Auserwahlten und Verlorenen. Die Unglaubigen hatten noch nicht einmal das Recht zu leben. Muntzers Politik war daher Terror. Nun, die Apokalypse trat damals nicht ein. Und Deutschland blieb ein terroristisches Regime erspart. Aber nur im 16. Jahrhundert.
