Culture Matters: Chicanas’ Identity in Contemporary USA
Grazyna Zygadlo
This book investigates the history of the Southwestern territory of the United States, its inhabitants and their cultural texts. It is an interdisciplinary work that concentrates on the cultural interpretation of the Chicana literary discourse in terms of Chicana feminism, La Raza political advocacy and socio-cultural interactions between the Latino/Latina and Anglo-Saxon cultures. Subsequently, the Author analyzes the issues of reciprocal relationships between the Chicanas’ class, ethnicity, gender and culture. Methodologically the book combines a literary discourse analysis with American Cultural Studies and Gender Studies.
