Padagogik als umkampftes Fach: Lebenserinnerungen 1967-2020

Wolfgang Brezinka

In the second part of his autobiography Wolfgang Brezinka describes his life story between 1967 and 2020. His struggles at the University of Konstanz, founded in 1966, are of central importance here, which are described here for the first time unadorned. Wolfgang Brezinka (1928-2020) was dissatisfied with the level of knowledge of the subject pedagogy as well as the quality of his own pedagogical knowledge since his studies. Systematically, he increased his own expertise and did not shy away from fights for the recognition and expansion of serious pedagogy as a university subject. With his courage to criticize flawed educational theories and their unsustainable foundations, he became a source of controversy in Germany and Austria in the 1970s. His rich work is a very productive contribution to the development of the subject Erziehungswissenschaft.Im second part of his autobiography, Brezinka not only describes his life story from 1967. The book is also the first unadorned contribution to the crisis-ridden founding and early history of the University of Konstanz and its tense relations with the state government of Baden-Wurttemberg between 1965 and 1979. An annex with 14 previously unpublished documents is therefore attached.
