Die den texten, vornehmlich der Donat - Sueton - vita beigef gten er l uterungen sind ein versuch, die quellenfrage der antiken Vergilviten auf eine neue basis zu stellen insofern, als ausser den namentlich ge nannten quellen die dichtungen V.s selbst in weitestem umfang ausgebeutet und ausgedeutet zu sein scheinen, wie dies bereits f r die die ackerver teilung und lebensgefahr betreffenden auf allegorischer interpretation der eklogen beruhenden beuchte sie sollen in 2 exkursen am schl sse des h ndchens gew rdigt werden insbesondere von F r. Leo (hermes 38 s. 1 ff), W. Kroll (rhein. Mus. 64, 50 ff) und Fr. Vollmer (sb. Der bayer. Ak. D. W. 1909 s. 5ff) erkannt worden ist.
