El volumen contiene 290 documentos papales de los siglos XI y XII que fueron enviados a diferentes destinatarios en el Reino de Castilla. Complementa las colecciones diplomaticas del Goettinger Papsturkundenwerk para las regiones de Cataluna, Navarra y Aragon que Paul Fridolin Kehr publico en la decada de 1920. Una gran cantidad de las bulas en este volumen proviene del archivo de la catedral de Toledo, incluidos varios documentos hasta ahora desconocidos. Los demas documentos provienen de las diocesis de Avila, Burgos, Cuenca, Osma, Palencia, Segovia y Siguenza. En el caso de Siguenza, algunos documentos originales que se perdieron durante la Guerra Civil podrian reconstruirse basandose en trabajos preparatorios mas antiguos del Goettinger Papsturkundenwerk.
