The Resurrection of the Promise
Thomas Fitzhugh Sheets
John Wesley lived during the time of our revolutionary war. He fought against the Church of England and it’s theology while the Colonies fought for our independence. What was being taught in The Church of England at that time - salvation at the moment of conversion through Grace Alone - is much the same as what is being taught today in many America Churches and Evangelical Seminaries. Then and now it is a perilous, heretical doctrine of certain and eternal salvation which is a poor and haughty theology . John Wesley believed it to be a theology of entitlement that would lead to moral decay and lawlessness in the culture.
The entitlement preached in the halls of our government and in our churches has once again united Church and State . Liberals marketing the promise of utopia through the power of government - Christians marketing salvation and the promise of instant heaven (paradise) at the moment we die. Socialism (Marxism) has always resulted in the darkness of dystopia, despair, and poverty.
In our churches we are witnessing a gradual descent into spiritual poverty - grace plus nothing saves. Grace - plus faith - plus good works saves. Each one wholly dependent on the other. Without the genuine faith of The First Century Church and works of service, it is impossible to please God and receive The Promise of eternal life at Christ’s return - our Blessed Hope. World leaders want us to put our hope in a Great Reset . 2000 years ago God gave the world the Blessed Hope of paradise when Jesus came out of the grave.
