Work Is a 4-Letter Word
Richard I Gold
The LORD God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it. Gen 2:15The work God gave Adam in tending the Garden was designed to be rewarding and fulfilling, but, when frustrated by Adam’s sin, turned into a drudge. Today, TGIF is a common sentiment expressing how many feel about the work they have.In contrast to TGIF however, work has always been a significant and rewarding part of author Richard Gold’s life. His first real work was as a teenager using his family’s lawn mower to cut neighborhood lawns earning both spending money and his college tuition. In college, he continued working, this time for NASA earning the funds to support his college education. NASA liked his work ethic so much that upon graduation he was given full time employment. When Gold retired, he had worked for a number of US Government agencies and completed an enjoyable career. In Work is a Four Letter Word, Gold counters TGIF and gives readers ideas and thoughts that help them appreciate work and deal with work experiences, both past and present. His statements and poems provide kindness, understanding, and wisdom to today’s frustrated worker helping them to look forward to the reward of work.
