Jackson Towers

Harry Gordon

Jacob Barron’s life was a puzzle. A puzzle with crucial pieces missing. Born in October 1935, abandoned the following September to a Memphis orphanage, and adopted in December, he was never comfortable in his surroundings.

Born gentile, brought up Jewish, Jake was never sure who he was or where he belonged. What he wanted most was to prove he had value. He was more than just an abandoned orphan. He deserved respect and was determined to show the world he was someone to admire.

Jake’s road would be filled with twists and turns, accomplishments and setbacks, and competing drives. Sports allowed him to vent his anger without repercussions. Older women provided companionship and affirmation without requiring commitment. Alcohol quieted his inner demons of insecurity. He believed wealth would give him status and make him safe and secure.

Jackson Towers is a story of a young man’s search for himself and his place in the world, as well as the many ways personal history, family, and unforeseen forces influence what he finds.
