When in 1975 James and Katrina Martin arrive in Milwaukee for a job possibility they are ill prepared for the Wisconsin winters. It is colder than the United Kingdom that they have just left and incomparable to the winters of Zambia where they have just spent the past several years.James secures employment with a manufacturer of mining and construction machinery. Well, there you go! follows the first year of the couple’s life in the New World as immigrants. They go through the language differences, the challenge of finding a place to live and furnishing it and the peculiarities of buying cars in the United States.James travels the United States as an application engineer working with local sales representatives to sell the features and advantages of the company’s line of mining machines. In his frequent absences Katrina faces the loneliness of living in a strange place where they have no family and the only friends they have are those they make in this new place.
