Life, love rivals, and lemon drizzle cake!
Retired cafe owner Fiona Tedstone has been complaining to the council for years about the state of Sweet Meadow Park, but until recently nothing has been done about it. However things are now starting to look up, and when she is offered a chance to bring the cafe inside its wrought-iron gates back to life, Fiona leaps at it.
Bill Greaves used to love visiting Sweet Meadow Park when he was a boy, but these past few years it has become a bit of an eyesore, so when he learns that the cafe will reopen, he is eager to get stuck in.
Neither he nor Fiona are spring chickens anymore though, and the task is a daunting one. Nevertheless, they are determined to persevere until...Fiona discovers she has feelings for Bill that she wishes she didn't have, the cafe is beset by a string of mishaps, and another woman appears on the scene, hellbent on worming her way into Bill's affections.
Will Fiona be able to open the cafe without Bill's help? And if she does, will she want to?
Settle down with a pot of tea and a slice of cake, and enjoy this warm and uplifting story about falling in love later in life, perfect for fans of Judy Leigh, Jennifer Bonnet and Maddie Please.
