In the 1980s, Ems, Jam, JoJo, and Little S, are four children, who move into the Old Stone Manor House after their parents inherited it. The old house turns out to be on ley lines. Soon the children begin to have strange ghostly experiences, and when they get their new computer, they start to receive strange messages on their computer from two people, Mary, and Thomas, who live at the time of Oliver Cromwell, a religious Puritan who has taken over Britain and banned everything fun, including football, dancing, theatre, and Christmas. Mary and Thomas send the children messages from their shiny, bright, glowing boxes’ which sparkle are really computers given to them by the time-travelling historian, Professor Fredrick Fairchild, so he could learn about the interesting times Mary and Thomas live in and keep in touch with his friends.

The children, throughout the story, stays in touch with Mary and Thomas until one day the children discover that their new friends are in trouble and in danger, because of their shiny, bright, glowing boxes, The children then realize they need to find Professor Fredrick Fairchild fast in order to rescue their friend’s.

This historical fiction is both fun and informative for young readers, introducing them to the wonders of history. It is an important perspective on history and an excellent way for kids to learn about the past from a Native perspective.
