Ola-Ojo, herself a trained and practicing radiographer/ultrasonographer with many years of experience, presents in the first chapter of this book, an in-depth assessment of the ultrasound services required in the Early Pregnancy and in an Acute Gynaecological unit from the design of the unit, to the arrangement of its facilities; infection control, quality and safety measures as well as protocols and guidelines to be observed during and after the procedure.

Chapter 2 presents normal ultrasound appearances of the embryo, fetus and the maternal ovaries in the first trimester. It addresses pregnancy dating. Chapter 3 presents in detail, many of the clinical indications for emergency ultrasound in early pregnancy with relevant case presentations.
