The English teacher from Lochgelly, Fife, will enhance his reputation with this collection, set in Orkney, home to the late George Mackay Brown. The younger poet salutes the older in the masterly ‘Seivin Verses for GMB.’ Hershaw’s voice is always thoughtful, questing, humane, whether offering a ballad of martyred lovers; brief, potent, thoughts on religious doubt; or a tender tribute to his two sons.
