Etudes Cappadociennes
Catherine Jolivet-Levy
A collection of papers published over the last 25 years on the art of Byzantine Cappadocia, focusing in particular on wall-paintings which provide a rich source of evidence for the religious and social life in the Byzantium province. The early papers assess the material as a whole while subsequent papers discuss specific examples of newly-discovered or newly-restored monuments in detail. The majority of the works date from the 8th to the 13th centuries with the richest pieces belonging to the 9th and 10th centuries. French text.
