Training for Reigning will take you on a journey. This pilgrimage will last for many years, and between the first step from the sheep fold to entering the palace is a giant leap. What was in Goliath of Gath is taken and used to forward David’s calling. In the defeating of the giant was the open doorway to the palace.
This journey begins in the hillsides of Bethlehem and amongst sheep. It leads from Bethlehem to Jerusalem. That pathway between the two has many obstacles and steps. This journey is no haphazard thing, it is something that is planned.
Part of Training for Reigning Is one of the many steps that are found along this Jerusalem Road leading from the place of the shepherd, the young boy David to the palace that one day he will occupy. It is a pilgrimage that take us from Bethlehem to Jerusalem.
The battle between David and Goliath is just one large step up to the throne of Israel. Through many things that King David suffered, he experienced training for reigning. It is telling David’s story, but, also your story as you battle against many giants. As this young Israeli went from being number eight to number one, from shepherd to sage, so you are advanced from where you are to where the Lord wants you to be. Nobody saw the potential for kingship in a shepherd lad but God.
In training for reigning, you will see your journey told in this story of how a small youth overcame a great giant and went on to wear a crown. After many temptations, much sorrow, and sometimes pain we shall be made part of Jerusalem, not as an earthly city but as a heavenly city that we shall enter one glorious day.
We are now in the training for reigning process. There is light at the end of the tunnel. That tunnel describes life lived on earth. Hemmed in, limited, forced to go one way. The light of the tunnel, one day, will lead to eternal light where we shall live forever. Although, now it appears as if we are looking through a glass darkly, as we look towards eternity. That glass is filled with holes. The glass will be cleaned, holes removed, and we shall, one day see things as clearly as Christ sees them. We shall understand the reason why things had to be so, 1 Corinthians 13:11,12.
