My sister wrote poetry all her life starting with love poems in her 20s, the Cumbrian Hills and countryside in her 30s, humorous ones as a partner running a family Guest House in the 1960s, and nostalgic ones in later life. Cynthia was a children’s nanny, during which time she lived and worked in many places in the UK and abroad, mainly the South of France and Switzerland. She was an enthusiastic fell walker, and it was a bitter blow when she developed arthritis at the age of 45, and was unable to do this. From that point on her life was a struggle, but she always kept a cheerful face and never grumbled. I hope she would have approved of her private thoughts out for all to read, as by nature she was retiring. My loving thoughts are always with her, and she is much missed by her little sister .
