Ana Blandiana is one of Romania’s foremost poets, a leading dissident before the fall of Communism. Her numerous international awards include the Legion d'Honneur in 2009 and the Griffin Trust Lifetime Recognition Award in 2018 (she traveled to Canada to receive this award). This new translation combines five of her collections, three of her protest poems from the 1980s followed by her two collections of love poetry, the most recent written after the death of her husband, human rights activist Romulus Rusan in 2016.
