Want to learn about anti-racism, Black identity, and ways to reduce stress?

Get this book and tap into your resources.

I have always wanted to write a book that brought together four of my favorite topics:

the need for self-care; the identity of Blackness; the practice of mindfulness; and the need for social justice.

This book includes practical skills to assist and guide the reader on their journey of spiritual development. I do this out of my love for humanity and to build strength in all people.

Many times, while learning about meditation from other disciplines, there would never be a single mention of race-despite the origins of it being from Black and Brown people. It was as if the practice was color-blind. As my learning came from a predominantly white society and white institutions, the assumption was that I was always learning from white people and that my intended audience was white people.

This book turns this assumption on its head. This book is explicitly Black. The audience is meant to know that the author is Black, for the purpose of encouraging spiritual consciousness, anti-racist awareness, and social change that benefits all people.

With this book, the reader will acquire skills meant to enhance their appreciation of self. Developing a greater awareness of the unique circumstances of Black people in a white society raises our consciousness about the social construct of race. Raising our racial consciousness allows people of all racial and cultural backgrounds to be more fully equipped to heal from the collective trauma of anti-Black racism.

Black Meditation is intended to help the reader find ways to help themselves. Each chapter of Black Meditation will assist you in building self-determination, setting an intention toward healing, and being more fully present in your mind, body, and spirit.

The ten chapters have ten different approaches. Learn about the following practices:

Cultivation: Introducing Black Meditation Purpose: The Goal Is to Sit Discipline: Breath and Body Vision: Envisioning a Direction Gratitude: Written Words to Yourself Blessings: Affirming Spirit Courage: Stepping outside of our Patterns Resilience: Recovering from our Trauma Strength: Links and Boundaries Love: The Missing Ingredient

I have put my heart into writing this, and I pass on all that I know to you. Let us have courage, be open-minded, and move toward a better future.
