BRIGHTON FOLLIES is a two-act musical with an original score. The story is based on a fictionalised account of the penultimate day of King George IV's residency at the Royal Pavilion in Brighton on March 6, 1827. Stage actress Marie Gold and socialite Maria Fitzherbert have one thing in common: they both loved George IV, a man who could never be theirs; Queen Caroline made sure of that. George IV still loves Maria Fitzherbert and wants to find a way to rekindle his romance with her. He calls upon a travelling mesmerist to come up with a solution. The mesmerist suggests a love potion. George hosts a banquet at the Royal Pavilion and invites Maria to attend. Will Maria succumb to the King's affections one last time? BRIGHTON FOLLIES captures the last encounters of their relationship, shown from a historical perspective of Brighton of the day. BRIGHTON FOLLIES is Iain Cameron Williams' unforgettable new musical.
