By inviting readers to look for meaning in the combinations of people portrayed, the book encourages reflection on the ways in which our experiences and perspectives shape our understanding of the world.

"Community," utilizes word and picture associations to initiate conversations about diversity and inequality. The book's illustrations on each page are designed, such that the figure on one page is linked to the figure on the opposite page. This approach encourages readers to draw connections between the numerous qualities, activities, and occupations depicted in the book.

Through its unique approach, "Community" aims to spark conversations about internalized systems of racism, classism, ageism, sexism, homophobia, and ableism.

A celebration of the things that make us alike rather than the things that set us apart. For many years, I have found inspiration in the everyday sights and sounds of the streets. Observing people going about their daily routines has been a source of joy and creativity for me, and I have captured these scenes in my drawings. Inspired by street scenes in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.
