In the year 1830 President Andrew Jackson signed and had approved the Indian Removal Act. For the Five Civilised Tribes of Native America, the Choctaw, Chickasaw, Seminole, Muscogee (Creek), and the Cherokee, this meant the end of their lives as they knew it and the start of the Trail of Tears. A trail that, not only brought tears, but has become famous for the starvation, disease, despair and death amongst the Five Civilised Tribes that were forced to travel on it.
