Partitas for Mandora: Volume 1 Arranged for Guitar; The Partita was originally the name for a single instrumental piece of music but in the Baroque Era, Partitas came to be a collection of musical pieces and was, more or less, a synonym for Suite. In addition to Brescianello, composers of the period included Johan Kuhnau, Christoph Graupner, and, of course, Johan Sebastian Bach. The Partita consisted of a series of movements all in the same key. Each of these was most likely derived from earlier dance forms but by the time of the Baroque Era they had left the ballroom far behind and had become abstract types of art music. The Partitas for Madora included here had between four and nine parts in each, often beginning with an Aria or an "Entree". Other parts of the Partita might be an Allegro, Andante, Menuet, Rigaudon, Scherzo and Gigue Some of the pieces that follow are approachable to the well-practiced beginning or intermediate performer, others will push the player to the limits of his technique.
