Less than thirty years after the end of the Civil War, as the nation was transitioning from an agricultural society to an industrial giant, a little town deep in the mountains of West Virginia's coal country dared to follow the example Christ gave and love their neighbors, all of them. The issues of that time were no different than today: poverty, prejudice, education, abuse, alcoholism, single-parent families, and hopelessness, but when the people from Clayton took God's Word seriously, things changed. Densel Raines currently resides in North Carolina, where he moved after retiring from a successful career as a CPA in Florida. Densel is happily married with three children and four grandchildren. His love of the outdoors and fly fishing has given him many great memories all over the U.S. Born and raised in West Virginia, Densel has always been interested in the history of this beautiful part of our country. His faith in Christ is the driving force that gives him direction and purpose. Writing was always something he aspired to do one day after retiring. Combining his love of God, family, and people has inspired him to write his first book.
