She has also served as a director for a coalition against domestic violence in Virginia and was instrumental through her work there to help establish the first domestic abuse shelter for women and their children. Mary Ann and her husband, Waldy, currently reside in Yulee, Florida, where they enjoy their four children and three granddaughters.
