Mo Reeves hasn't been the same since the death of her wife, Annie. For four long years she has been crushed by the immense grief, letting her career and personal life crumble. Now at rock bottom, Mo's friends are pressuring her to put Annie's memory to rest by going on a pilgrimage to Annie's favorite backpacking trail in Redwood National Park.

Aspen Anderson, local bartender and the queen of being "just okay," has chosen a life of stagnation. It's easier to find temporary satisfaction in the cycle of tourists than to commit to anything other than small town life under her favorite redwood canopy. Even if a small part of her heart yearns for something more than slinging beers or leading backpacking trips.

When Mo and Aspen meet, the attraction is immediate, even with the baggage the two hold so dear. So after Mo cracks and tells Aspen why she's there, Aspen devises a master plan that will allow Mo to communicate with Annie again. All they have to do is backpack down Redwood Creek.
