Evan Kurtz is a problem child living in NYC. To set him on the correct path, his father, Nathan Kurtz, takes him to Shipshewana, IN to live with his mother, Evan's grandmother, Adeline Kurtz, widow of John Kurtz. Evan meets the Amish for the first time and makes friends with Zak (Isaac) Graber, grandson of Daniel Yoder. Meeting Zak's twin, Zeke (Ezekiel) is a test. Then Evan is smitten by the twin's sister, Rachel Graber. He learns more about the Amish and how his grandparents were dairy farmers. Family secrets come to surface. Evan finds his path, but not before many discover his voice and ability to sing. Both Rachel and Evan have the gift of song. They are cast in a play at the Blue Gate Theater. Will Rachel become Englische? Or, will Evan become Amish? All is revealed in this, the final book of The Amish Singer series.
