Winner of the 2014 Blue Light Poetry Prize Megan is a poet, performance artist, freelance writer, locavore, gluten-free kitchen witch, and single parent. She lives with her teen-aged son and their supernaturally cute Pomeranian. Her work has been published in the Iowa Source, The Ottumwa Courier, the anthology Lyrical Iowa 2007, and the anthology This Enduring Gift. She is passionate about poetry as performance art and looks forward to sharing her work at an open mike near you. Megan’s writing brings to mind the desert flower, the blossoms that have become tough from fighting the environment. She reaches for the mooring of autobiography and loosens the knot. We can feel the transformation that happens when the decision is made to stand and face the story, the birth cry of a warrior-mother, one who steps hungry into the rite of passage rather than choose the easy path of the coward. -David Hurlin, Drummer for Apocalypso Tantric Boys Choir and Author of The End of Tourism
