From Many Voices: A Collection Of Poetry And Short Storie

Elizabeth Owens

The concept behind this collection of writings is based on the Japanese Buddhist concept of Sanzen, which roughly translated means moment of truth. We are all born a single being with the seedlings of a personality that will grow and later become that man or woman whom we identify ourselves as, a separate, rare, precious living being with a special, unique personality. However, through life’s many challenges, we often find that we must transform or disassociate ourselves into a new form of personal consciousness in order to survive. Thus, the search begins for our authentic self. The journey is Sanzen, to begin again somewhere else inside. From Many Voices is a collection of three short stories and several poems that deal with the struggles of recovery taken from the author’s own life. The poems and short stories reflect the many voices that co-exist within all of us and highlight the fight to survive and journey from recovery to a belief that happiness is possible.
