This book covers the five public cemeteries of Middleburg, Virginia: Emmanuel Episcopal Church Cemetery, Middleburg Baptist Church Cemetery, Middleburg Memorial Cemetery, Sharon Cemetery, and Solon Cemetery. In all but one cemetery, the burials are grouped by lots and show the owner of the lot whenever possible. Epitaphs on the stones are listed if they have genealogical significance. Plats and a full-name index add to the value of this work.
In 1996 the staff and volunteers of the Thomas Balch Library for History and Genealogy published Loudoun County, Virginia Cemeteries, A Preliminary Index as a tool for genealogical research. Since that time, the Cemetery Committee has continued investigating, finding, and cataloging the numerous cemeteries in Loudoun County. The information included in this work was primarily taken from grave markers in each of the five cemeteries. Information for Middleburg Baptist Church Cemetery and Sharon Cemetery was originally compiled by Mrs. Aurelia Jewell around 1950 and was updated by Cemetery Committee volunteers in 1999.
