It was the remark of the great American historian George Bancroft, that Freedom of conscience, unlimited freedom of mind, was from the first, the trophy of the Baptists. This is a just remark; and it is the purpose of this little book, to furnish some of the deeply interesting facts upon which such an assertion is based.
