Being the latest volume in an ongoing series of books, covering the history and development of rail transport in the South Wales valleys. The area once boasted some very important industrial manufacturers, including the Tredegar Iron Works and numerous other iron smelting companies. This volume covers the industrial, economic and social history of this fascinating area of the South Wales valleys and the railway that once served the area. AUTHOR: John Hodge is a retired railwayman, who started his career on the Western Region in Cardiff, he later transferred to Paddington. He has always had an interest in railway history and research, writing numerous articles and books for a number of publishers. This is his latest work on the railways of the Sirhowy Valley, which is part of a much bigger project to cover the much under researched history of the South Wales valley lines. John Hodge lives in Haywards Heath in East Sussex, where he continues to write and research Welsh railway history.
