The formation and dissolution of the Soviet Union impacted the entire world. The Soviet Union was guided by the principles of communism. Conflict emerged between the Soviet Union and capitalist countries, namely, the United States and those in Western Europe. Eventually, the Soviet Union dissolved in 1991 as a result of a declaration that recognized the independence of the former Soviet republics.
