Rick Morrison is a journalist. He has moved to Madrid to get over the recent death of his wife. Laura Gomez is a lawyer. She is trying to escape from an abusive relationship. Victor and Tomas Rubiales work the streets, stealing cardboard and copper and setting up a marijuana farm. Tomas yearns to become a bullfighter. Ignacio Campos, the Chief Constable, wants to go into politics but he must first find a way of escaping from a mafia boss in Galicia. When an unmarked grave from the Spanish Civil War is discovered in a small village to the north of Madrid, their paths begin to cross as they all have different reasons for wanting to identify the four bodies found there. Their stories reach a climax during the the village feast in a most unexpected way.
