Bandelier Bunny And The Kiva is a children’s story about a lonely young rabbit and his friendship with a pinyon mouse named Tecumseh. The tale takes place in Bandelier National Monument near Los Alamos, New Mexico. The rabbit learns the meaning of friendship and tolerance for others who are different. Woven into the story is history of the area and of the Native American chief, Tecumseh. Although not from the Southwest, Tecumseh’s tale works well in the plot. The idea of helping preserve the Earth’s resources is also present.
