In 1942 Norman Henry Carter volunteered for service in Britain’s ‘Hour of Need.’ Joining the Royal Army Service Corps as a Driver, he kept a series of diaries during his military service with the 1st Army in North Africa and then with the 8th Army in Italy and on through Europe. This collection is taken directly from the diaries of: T/10694528 Dvr N H Carter From the tail end of the North Africa campaign, through to the thick of the fighting at Monte Cassino, Norman travelled with ‘Lady Luck, ’ until he came face to face with a desperate enemy. This ‘First Edition’ diary depicts the realities of war as the writer saw it.
