An autobiography of a London family during World War 2. The two eldest children (Kitty 9, Eric 5) evacuated to Wales and the baby Eddie stays with their mother in London. She has had a ‘Premonition’ that if those two stayed ‘something terrible’ will happen to them Away for three years their mother takes Kitty back suddenly because she becomes jealous of the relationship Kitty forms with her foster-mother. 6 months later Eric (in a different Welsh town) goes home too. They stay even though there is a ‘mini-blitz’ on London over Christmas 1942-43 and on 20th Jan. 1943 Sandhurst Road School they are attending is bombed, 38 children (including Kitty) are killed, 150 (including Eric) injured. 18 months later Eric is returned home, still severely Disabled. Their mother’s Premonition has happened. Eric’s adjustment to home life, school, work and permanent injuries are also relived - with the conclusion that though Hitler’s War Machine had tried to ‘get him’ in the end Eric could say ‘Yah - missed me!
