Daan Parmentier is geboren en gestorven in Leiden, 1826-1901. Hij behoorde bij de Hervormde Marekerk, waarvan hier het exterieur en interieur getoond wordt. Later werd hij lid en diaken bij de Christelijk Afgescheiden Kerk. Daan beschrijft zijn leven voor zijn bekering en daarna. Prachtig beschrijft hij de vele uitreddingen en de trouwe liefde van Christus, nadat hij van Hem was afgeweken. Hij bezat een opgeruimd karakter en was zo rond als een appeltje. 'Zie, waarlijk een Israeliet in wie geen bedrog is.'
