This collection of activities is based on a weekly series of space science problems intended for students looking for additional challenges in the mathematics and physical science curriculum in grades 6-12. The problems deal with modern science and engineering issues, often involving actual research data. The section titles in this 75-problem collection include: – What Is Life? – What Makes a World Habitable? – The Search for Earth-like Planets – Exoplanets and Their Properties – Basic Astronomy – The Drake Equation – Searching for Extra Terrestrials. Each word problem includes background information. One-page teachers’ answer keys accompany the one-page assignments.
