America and Western Civilization seem lost in the high weeds of a post-truth world. What is real and true is far less important than how you "feel" about it. We don't see ourselves as fellow travelers on the road to knowledge and understanding. Instead we are shouting loudly at each other because if your truth claim differs from mine, you have no right to be heard. So it seems. This collection of succinct articles originally written for newspaper publication is an effort to offer thoughtful topics on faith and culture in a quieter tone. At less than 500 words each, the goal is to inform, educate, challenge, inspire, and motivate the reader. The subjects vary from theology, current events, history, politics, philosophy, arts, and literature, a tall order for short essays! Karl Barth once advised young theologians "to take your Bible and take your newspaper, and read both. But interpret newspapers from your Bible." Christians are called to engage the ever-changing culture with the timeless truths revealed by a Triune God. Fowler wants the writings of "All Things New" to contribute to that cause.
