The Bodian was squatting down. His body was partially hidden by a dark, heavy cloak. I noticed his hands first, long, bony, twitching fingers dripping with serum, sharp flesh-caked claws. Its lower jaw hung freely, slack with greed, enabling it to swallow massive chunks of tendons and muscle. Realization dawned upon me: the Bodian was feeding. Each time he gulped, the loose flesh of his neck jiggled, as he swallowed down a bloody mass of flesh. He crunched down on the spine and then swallowed the whole head with one greedy gulp. His neck muscles strained and bloated, like a croaking bullfrog, as the sphere struggled to slide down his gullet. He swallowed once, twice, and even a third time–choking momentarily on the child’s head.
