Lois Michiko Wedlock was born and raised in rural Waianae, Hawaii, and shares her experience of growing up as a third generation Japanese American in a traditional family with untraditional outcomes. She is torn between doing what is expected of the Asian compliant female of being a school teacher or secretary and not in an aggressive, risky field of sales. She marries a man who is her rock, whose father is black and met his Japanese mother while stationed in Japan. She explores tolerating the minutia of corporate politics as she takes on the risk of high-income sales positions. This is a journey of social economic expectations and what happens when one deviates from plans, both personally and professionally.
