Most of these poems are early examples of the developing poet laureate of a dusty unknown town in Southwest Texas, who is surely on track to make the world know who he is and where he is from. Follow his life through poetry from the onion fields around La Pryor, Texas, to the military and into a second career as a history teacher, all the time dealing with being a person torn by his Mexican culture, Indian heritage, American education, and combat service, as well as the influence of music.
