Der Deutsche Protestantenverein: Und Seine Bedeutung in Der Gegenwart (1868)

Daniel Schenkel

Cruel Deception is a compelling story written on abuse, rejection and deceit and is a true account of growing up with parents who were incapable of loving me. After spending years of attempting to win their love, the emotional abuse and betrayal continued throughout adulthood, causing me to eventually leave the insanity. Shunning myself from society, I dug deep and exorcized the demons in the privacy of my own home. Detangling the web of deceit which had been spun around me, I emerged cautiously, gathering bits and pieces of me, in the hopes of reconstructing a new me; a better me. Forgiveness is a word which is overused, and oftentimes has been mistaken for an ultimatum in the healing of oneas spirit. The mere act of forgiving my family may come someday, but for now I needed to tell my story. In my attempt to reclaim my sanity, or what was left of it, I chose to escape. It was then I began to write, and a memoir was born.
