Yvonne is a young girl who is forced to live with her father after finding out that her parents are getting divorced. She later learns that he isn’t the person he appears to be, and she goes through a terrible time with an oppressive stepmother after her father remarries. After leaving home soon after turning eighteen, Yvonne suffers more than what she thought possible: a rape, spousal abuse and a stalker, as she grows into adulthood. Yvonne finally deals with the past that has made her have the many troubled relationships she has endured throughout her young life. She finds an inner peace through God, whom she used to question after leaving home. She also finds strength in her daughter, whom she would die without now.
