Traite de Perspective: Ou Sont Contenus Les Fondemens de La Peinture (1701)

Bernard Lamy

Dust Carried on the Wind is a mixture of romance, horror and mystery, centering around Yorkshire, a seaport town in Virginia. The year is 1829. Jordan Jackson, the town’s Constable is a knowledgeable lawman in pursuit of the Pleasure Seekers, a cult that is devoted to the three-headed dog, Cerberus, who guards the gates of Hell. Constable Jordan is horrified over the four ritual sacrifices of four young girls and the manner in which their young bodies had been brutally mutilated. They had been fished from the murky waters of the harbor in the nets of fishermen. Each have a breast that had been amputated and their chest cut to the navel with their hearts removed. The Constable’s only clues are amulets of the three-headed dog Cerberus. Annora Baldwin, the aristocratic daughter of Henry Baldwin, finds herself falling in love with two men, each one handsome in their own right. There is Joseph Moorly, who is a crewman on the whaling ship Morning Star, and Thruston Cortely, a poor dirt farmer. Annora tries to understand her father’s connection to the cult and in doing so she had no alternative but to run for her life, unaware that the sinister Chad Argus was following her.
