Another Quest for Honor is a story of betrayal of the worst sort and the triumph of personal redemption. Through Jacob and Rachel Goldman, the reader is swept through that turbulent time in an intensely personal story that will alter the reader’s perception of the war, the military, and society during that horrendous era we now simply call Vietnam. Jacob and Rachel Goldman are products of a post-World War II society that outwardly valued honor and decency. During their 1960s’ college years, Jacob earned a commission as an officer in the United States Air Force. He fully integrated the lessons of duty, honor and country into his personal value system. Both Rachel and Jacob trusted their superiors in government and the military to act honorably to protect their society as he helped to spread the gospel of democracy throughout the world. As events on the battlefield and the homefront collided with their carefully constructed world, Jacob and Rachel joined millions of their generation in cynical and destructive self-loathing. Somehow they assumed the guilt for the evil perpetrated on them by others. Jacob and Rachel’s long journey into darkness and then back to each other and their country is a love story that will resonate with those who experienced the Vietnam War, and will allow a new generation to more fully understand the quiet pain they perceived in their parents.
