Black Diamond takes place in the time of one of the worst projects in Kansas City, Missouri, Wayne Minor back in the 1990s. Itas about a girl named Shanta McClendon who was ten years old living in those projects who had a dream of one day leaving and fulfilling her dream of being a book publisher. She shared a strong bond with her mother, Tiffany McClendon, who tried so hard to get them out the projects so Shanta could succeed, until one day Tiffany was found murdered in her home. Shanta later finds out about her momas diary and discovers some family secrets and betrayal that have been kept away from her. When she goes to the gravesite where her mom is buried she meets her dad for the first time in years. Shanta is facing old memories of her mom and is seeking revenge on the killer, but with everything going on around her will she get out in enough time to pursue her dreams of becoming a publisher, or will the people close to her take her under?
