Peace and Happiness (1909)
John Lubbock, Sir
It is every manas dream to find a buried treasure. And that is exactly what the Reverend O.R. Madden did. Four hundred pounds of gold nuggets. The only thing was, it was dug up on city property and the local politicians had their own ideas about how a financial windfall was to be spent, which did not sit well with the preacher. So he and his small band of conspirators had to find a safe way of selling the gold with no one finding out about it. So naturally, they had to sell it to a bunch of crooks. But crooks, being crooks, decided they not only wanted the gold, but also the money they paid to get the gold (with interest). This also did not sit well with the Reverend Madden and his party, so they decided to out-crook the crooks. With the help of some unlikely cohorts, and a lot of help from a Higher Authority, plus a few unexpected twists and turns, it makes for a fun-filled adventure.
