Rambles in the Isle of Wight: With Miscellaneous Additions (1844)

John Gwilliam

Everyone getting married is looking forward to riding off into the sunset and living happily ever after. Not so. This is a story depicting how a marriage survived through many hardships of deceit and denial. The secret was trusting in the Lord.Having retired from a 27-year career with the telephone company in 1991 as a senior manager, I elected to be a stay-at-home mom. Appointed and serving as a governing board school official for nine years with eight schools offered me an opportunity to embrace the California educational system for the first time from a political viewpoint. I am a wife, mother of seven and grandmother of ten. Embracing the educational system has also given me the opportunity to have my children graduate from some of the finest: Annapolis Naval Academy; USC; CA State Universities of Fullerton, Dominguez, Long Beach; New York University; National University; Fullerton and Cypress College.Coming out of retirement, I joined a hotel family in 1994 as a front office agent and later was promoted to a multi-property director position in the human resources department. Each assignment has been a fun-filled career journey. With such a thriving career and awesome children, how successful was the marriage?Retired again, I saw a need due to my marriage failures to write this book. I hope it will assist others in celebrating married life one day at a time.
