Morning on the Mountains: Or Woman and Her Savior in Persia (1863)

This is a detective story based in Chicago and that introduces Rod Baxtin, a 48 year old veteran of the east side precinct detective department. He is not only introduced to the world for the first time but also receives as a gift one of the most bizarre and clueless cases that a veteran detective could ever receive: the mysterious and random murders of bakery owners throughout the Chicago metropolitan area. And he has a deadline to meet in order to save his job, if receiving a clueless and bizarre case were not enough on his breakfast plate already. Can he solve this mysterious and clueless case? Will he get it done in time? Will he save his job and his flimsy reputation? We will find out shortly, won’t we?
